Released as a launch title, this version introduces exciting new features and enhancements that elevate the classic gameplay. Encounter the robotic enemy Robirdo, a new boss replacing Mouser in World 3, and engage in the Yoshi Challenge, where you revisit stages to discover hidden Yoshi Eggs. A fresh point-scoring system adds an extra layer of competition, reminiscent of the Power Challenge from Super Mario USA. Visually, enjoy enlarged sprites, dynamic hit combos, and improved audio with digital voice acting, all complemented by stylistic updates such as a modified health meter, altered boss order, new backgrounds, and the iconic change of Princess Toadstool’s name to Princess Peach. The game also features a special chime to announce Stars, enhancing the immersive experience. This enhanced version was later made available on the Wii U Virtual Console, first in Japan on July 16, 2014, and subsequently in North America on November 6, 2014.
