Developed by Traveller’s Tales for home consoles and PC, and Amaze Entertainment for handheld devices, Bionicle Heroes offers a variety of engaging gameplay modes. The Game Boy Advance version transforms into a fast-paced run ‘n’ gun shooter, where players control a Toa capable of moving in all directions and strafing with precision.

Choose your firepower wisely—fire rapid, weaker blasts with the A button, or unleash more powerful, concentrated attacks determined by your mask. With six unique masks scattered throughout 19 levels, each granting different attack abilities—from laser beams to explosive mortar rounds—players can customize their combat style.

Collect runes in each level to unlock cheats, mini-games, and additional content, encouraging replayability. After completing regions, face off against the formidable Piraka, each battle challenging your skills and strategy. The game’s free-play mode allows for weapon switching and exploration of previously cleared levels, providing a comprehensive experience.

Note that the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS versions feature a different storyline: the Toa Inika are defeated and maskless, prompting a new hero—a Matoran turned Toa—to restore peace by defeating the Piraka and reclaiming the masks for the original Toa Inika.
