Description

Blackthorne

Experience the cinematic thrill of Blackthorne, a captivating platform adventure developed by Blizzard Entertainment, originally released in 1994 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and MS-DOS. Notably, the SNES cover art was crafted by renowned artist Jim Lee, adding a touch of artistry to this epic saga. The following year, the game expanded its reach with a version for Sega 32X, featuring additional content.

Set on the mysterious planet Tuul, a world shrouded in ancient secrets, the game unfolds against a backdrop of mythic kingdoms and dark magic. Long ago, Tuul was ruled by a wise shaman blessed with profound knowledge. His sons, Thoros and his twin, inherited his power—yet their rivalry led Thoros to a tragic decision. Believing it would resolve his familial conflict, Thoros led his sons into the desert, sacrificed himself, and transformed into two sacred stones—light and dark. The descendants of the lightstone established the kingdom of Androth, while the followers of the darkstone formed Ka’dra’suul. Tensions grew as Ka’dra’suul rejected their stone and descended into monstrosity, paving the way for chaos.

Amidst this turmoil, the dark sorcerer Sarlac seized power, amassing an army to conquer Androth. Foreseeing doom, King Vlaros of Androth, with his trusted magician Galadril, sends his son Kyle "Blackthorne" Vlaros to Earth, safeguarding the vital lightstone. Now, Kyle embarks on a daring quest to confront Sarlac and restore peace.
