Developed and published by Konami for the Game Boy Advance, Boktai 2: Solar Boy Django is an exciting sequel to Boktai: The Sun Is in Your Hand. Released in North America and Japan in 2004, and in Europe in 2005, this adventure takes place in the vibrant town of San Miguel, Django’s hometown.
In this captivating action RPG, Django faces a mysterious vampire who steals the powerful Gun Del Sol (Solar Gun) and uses its energy against him. Armed with the Sol de Vice (Solar Glove), granted by Zazie the Sunflower girl, Django can enchant ordinary weapons with solar energy, adding a dynamic twist to combat and exploration.
The gameplay closely mirrors the original, featuring stealth, puzzle-solving, and dungeon exploration culminating in epic boss battles against vampires. New features include weapon forging, a comprehensive money system, and subtle gameplay tweaks. Sunlight now serves a dual purpose: powering your energy and acting as a currency called SOLL, which is valuable throughout San Miguel.
As you traverse the game world during daytime, you generate Solar Energy (SOL) at solar stations. Converting SOL into SOLL (via the in-game bank at a 1:1 rate) allows you to accumulate wealth, which can be used to purchase weapons and items, or to buy a life after defeat. You can sell surplus items for SOLL, and the currency can be converted back into SOL when needed—enabling strategic resource management. Collect, craft, and trade your way through this sun-powered adventure in a world where sunlight is your greatest weapon and resource.
