In a dreamlike sequence, Boog chases a giant version of his cherished teddy bear, Dinkleman, only to be awakened and brought into the bustling town center for a show. Trouble arises when Beth discovers that ruthless hunter Shaw has already hunted a deer named Elliot. After a tense encounter with Sheriff Gordy, Boog makes a daring decision to free Elliot, sparking a friendship that will be vital on their daring escape. Their mischievous plans lead them to a convenience store, where they indulge in chocolate bars before being captured and taken to Timberline National Forest at the start of hunting season.

Now, Boog and Elliot embark on an epic road trip through the forest, completing various tasks to help local animals. As players progress, they unlock and recruit different animal allies, each with unique skills to outsmart hunters and turn the tables on their pursuers. Play as Boog, who can scare hunters by tossing skunks, or as Elliot, a master of jumping, sneaking, and setting clever traps.
