The storyline unfolds as Mr. Burns monopolizes all transit systems, introducing radioactive buses that endanger the town. While the game offers entertaining chaos, it received mixed reviews, often criticized for its basic graphics and being a straightforward clone of Crazy Taxi. Notably, Sega filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Radical Entertainment and Electronic Arts, which was settled out of court. Despite its shortcomings, The Simpsons: Road Rage paved the way for its spiritual successor, The Simpsons: Hit & Run, released in 2003, which expanded on the driving and adventure elements in Springfield.
